Parador de Carmona, Spain
The Christian king Pedro I (1334-1369), whose palace is the most famous part of the Alcazar of Seville, built his country palace in Carmona on the site of the old Moorish fortress. It was damaged by earthquakes in 1504 and 1755, when it was abandoned. The Parador de Carmona, which opened in 1976, was built on the site of Pedro's 14th-century palace.
